After breakfast, proceed to Munnar, popular hill stations in Southern India known for its sprawling tea gardens. Evening at leisure.

Drive from Munnar to Periyar.

The drive to Periyar is enchanting as the road winds through tranquil countryside, rich plantations & thick jungles. Thekkady (Idukki district) is the location of the Periyar National Park, which is an important tourist attraction in the Kerala. The Periyar Wildlife sanctuary is spread across 777 km² (300 sq. miles), of which 360 km (139 sq. miles) is thick evergreen forest. This Wild Life Sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. The splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park. The greatest attraction of Periyar is the herds of wild elephants that come down to play in the lake. Thekkady is also considered a heaven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove.Upon arrival in Periyar check-in at hotel.

Day 5 – Periyar – Kumarakom (117 kms/2 Hours 30 mins) 

Drive from Periyar to Kumarakom.

The village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanadu Lake in Kerala. It is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna and is noted for its bird sanctuary where many species of migratory birds visit. The Vembanad Lake, the largest backwater in Kerala, is also habitat for many marine and freshwater fish species and it teems with Karimeen, Shrimp and Prawns. It is a major tourist attraction.The gorgeous green of the fringed palms ripple in the blue waters and blend into wavelets. The people on the banks of Vembanadu Lake are generally peace-loving and follow a neat and healthy lifestyle. Their dressing is immaculate, usually spotless whites. The food mainly consists of rice and fish. Fish is a very important item in their menu for lunch and dinner.

Day 6 – Kumarakom – Alleppey (33 kms/Approx 40 mins) 

Drive from Kumarakom to Alleppey.

Kettuvallams, the stitched boats provide the best way to experience the colorful backwaters of Kerala. The wood commonly used to make Kettuvallams is ‘Anhili’, which is found in abundance in central Travancore area. Large planks are tied together using hand made coir ropes and beaten coconut fibres. This gives the Kettuvallams enough strength to withstand heavy waves in the sea. Kettuvallams are built entirely without the use of nails. It requires great skill and adroitness to construct these giant boats by tying huge planks of jack wood together. The boats are applied with fish oil and cashew nut oil and left to cure for days. With careful maintenance, they last for generations.

Sightseeing tour of the city visiting the Museum and Art Gallery ( closed on Friday). Drive through the Flower & Fruit Market; visit the Fort St. George (closed on Friday), which once served as the very first bastion of the East India Company. Within the Fort complex, is also the oldest Anglican Church in India, St Mary’s Church, built in 1678-1680. Drive along the Marina Beach, one of the longest beaches in the world. Also visit Kapaleeswarar Temple   (temple remain closed from 1230 -1600 hours) & San Thome Cathedral, which is said to contain the remains of St. Thomas the Apostle (Doubting Thomas) and drive past the Marina Beach.

Early morning proceed for the boat ride in the Park for wild life viewing. Return for the breakfast at hotel. In the afternoon enjoy jeep safari to Ottakathalemedu Cross hills (approx 1500 meters above sea level). Drive through cardamom coffee, pepper plantation to chellarcovil mettu  (1200 meters high from sea level). A small walk though the area (Black Tea/ cardamom tea & local snack served on the hill). Breakfast at Hotel. By noon board Houseboat from resort jetty (check-in time is around 1230 hours). Lunch on board, cruise through the canals, witness the  serenity of the surroundings and the local lifestyle. Dinner on board.

Also visit the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was originally buried, and the Santa Cruz Church with its pastel coloured interior and carved wooden panels. Also witness the traditional martial of South India –Kalaripayattu.  Kalaripayattu is the oldest martial art form of Kerala in South India, is formed by the combination of two words Kalari means school, gymnasium and Payattu means to fight or exercise. DAY 04 DELHI TO CALICUT TO KASARGOD
Morning after breakfast transfer to the domestic airport, board flight to Calicut. Arrive Calicut, direct transfer to Kasargod (about 195kms/ 04hrs), check into the hotel.

Starting with Kasargod as the gateway to God’s Own Country will put you in memory with a different face of Kerala – classical, ancient, and gentle. Definitely touched by colonialism but not ravaged by wars and intensely aware of its roots and traditions. Kasargod is known as the land of Gods, forts, rivers, hills and beautiful seashores. Morning after breakfast visit the Bekal Fort, the largest and the best-preserved fort in Kerala. After sightseeing we will make a drive to Kannur (about 115kms/03hrs) , a city known for its handloom and beedi (local cigarettes) industries. Check into the hotel. Evening we make a short drive to Sree Muthappan Temple in Parassinikadavu (18kms). Temple stands on the banks of the Valapattanam River. This is the only temple in Kerala where Theyyam the ritual dance form of North Kerala is performed every morning and evening. The temple’s non-conformist nature is also evident in the unusual custom of offering dried fish and toddy to the deity. Back to the hotel. O/n Hotel.

DAY 06 KANNUR
Morning after breakfast we will make a short drive to the Payyambalam Beach, the long and clean beach of Kannur town is famous for its flat laterite cliffs that just into the sea.

COCHIN DAY 12 COCHIN
Formed for its natural harbour, one of the finest in the world, Cochin has earned the sobriquet “Queen of the Arabian Sea”. Here you can see the oldest churches in India. The ancient temples, churches and synagogues. From time immemorial, Arabs, Chinese, Dutch, British and Portuguese sea farers followed the sea route to Cochin and left their impressions on the town.

Morning we make a short drive to visit the Mattancherry ‘Dutch’ Palace was built by Portuguese in 1557 and presented to the Cochin Raja, Kerala Varma. Afterthat move to the Jewish Synagogue, built in 1568. The great scrolls of the Old Testament and a number of copper plates inscribed in the Hebrew script are preserved in this synagogue.
