DAY 01: Delhi – Leh

Catch the flight from Delhi to Leh in the morning. On arrival at Leh, meet our representatives. Check-in the pre-booked hotel. Take relax and be acclimatized. DAY 02: Leh – Shey – Thiksey – Hemis

On this day, you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area.

Today, you will explore some of the ancient monasteries in Leh. One such monastery is Shey Gompa. It is located 15 kilometers from Leh. It was once the summer capital of Ladakh kings. Around this place are situated several Gompas and Stupas. Deldyan Namgyal built this palace in 17th century. 12 meters long Shakyamuni Buddha effigy positioned inside the Dresthang Gompa is the prominent attraction of Leh.

Located near Shey, Thiksey Gompa is at the distance of 17 kilometers from Leh. This mo0nastery is said to be one of the most stunning structures in Ladakh and it belongs to Gelukspa order.

Located at about 45 kilometers south of Leh, Hemis is one of the most popular and largest monasteries in Ladakh. This monastery belongs to Drukpa Order. Hemis was founded in early 17th century. DAY 03: Leh – Likir – Yangthang across Phobe La (9 kms/4 to 5 hrs.)

You will be taken to Likir by taxi after breakfast in the morning. Likir is just 58 kilometers away. It is the beginning point of our trek. We have to cover a short distance in warm route but there will be no shade or water. We will transverse two passes. The route leads west towards Phobe La (3580 meters) from Likir. Subdo Village lies beyond Phobe La. The route goes steeply until we arrive at Chagatse La (3630 meters). The village of Yangthang is across the pass. We will camp at Yangthang for night. The camp will be next to the stream. At an hour distance south from Yangthang is situated the Ridzong Monastery.

DAY 04: Yangthang – Hemis Shukpachan across Tsermangchan La (8 kms 2/3 hours)

Despite the pass, we have to take an easy walk today. Both the ascent and descent en route are of gentle slopes. The route takes to north, dipping down a bit and then crossing a stream ascending west again to Tsermangchan La (3750 meters). We will head down to Hemis Shukpachan after taking a short at the pass. There are lots of radiant streams bordered by shady willows and large barley fields.

DAY 05: Hemis Shukpachan – Ang across Mebtak La (10 kms/ 3 hrs)

This is again a fairly easy day of trekking. The route reaches upward between two hillocks in the west of village located upwards until it heads south and ascends steadily up to Mebtak La (3750 meters). This valley is marked by prayer flags. We will proceed down the gorge to Ang from the pass. Ang is a captivating village with apricot orchards. We will camp at Ang for overnight stay.

DAY 06: Ang -Temisgam and Nurla (8 km/ 3 hrs) – Leh

This is the last day and includes an easy trek downhill all the way on the main road. There would be a taxi waiting at Temisgam. This taxi will take everyone to Leh.

DAY 07: Leh – Delhi

Reach the airport to catch the magnificent flight across the prominent chain of Himalaya to Delhi.

Day 05): Yangthang

Day 06): Yangthang – Tsermangchan
Enjoy the trek to Tsermangchan La (3750 meters) and Lago La (3750 meters) to Ang.

Day 07): Tsermangchan – Wanla
Trek on the beautiful trail to Bongbong La (3630 meters) in order to reach Khaltsey. From Khaltse, take the jeep to Wanla. Enjoy the overnight stay at the camp in Wanla.

Day 08): Wanla – Lamayuru

Day 09): Lamayuru – Leh

DAY 04: Zingchan – Yurutse (3900 mts/12792 ft) via Rumbak

It is a steep ascent to Rumbak from Zingchan. From Rumbak, one gets fascinating views of snow covered Stok Mountains. Move along the Rumbak Nala en route for Yurutse. At the village of Yurutse, you will witness the wonderful fields potatoes and barley. Overnight stay in the tents.

DAY 05: Yurutse – Skiu (3100 mts/10168 ft) via Ganda La

Reach Ganda La (4900 meters) by ascending steeply from Yurutse. This pass offers the view that extends south to Zanskar Range and far-flung peaks of Himalaya. From here, there is a long descent to the village of Shingo. The trail leads into a slender gorge from this village and then leads towards Skiu. Shingo and the rivers coming from Markha Valley confluence at Skiu. Overnight stay in the tents.

DAY 06: Skiu – Markha (3800 mts/12464 ft)

It is an extremely congenial climb to the Markha Valley on this day. The crosses several streams. Markha is an immaculate village with deserted fort. Overnight stay in the tents.

DAY 07: Markha – Thochuntse

The settings change from Markha. We will leave behind the heavily forested sections of Lower Markha. There is no bridges so we will have to cross the river. We will come across Hankar en route to Thochuntse. Hankar is the highest village in Markha Valley. Overnight stay in the tents.

DAY 08: Thochuntse – Nimaling (4700 mts/15416 ft)

The trek begins with good track with numerous small gradients and a chain of glassy ridges. There is a sequence of Mani Walls and chortens on the route. This is counted among the most stunning high valleys in Ladakh and is cosseted by Kangyatse Peak. Overnight stay in the tents.

DAY 09: Nimaling – Kongmaru La (5150 mts/16892 ft) – SUMDO

We will cross to the north of Markha on this day. We will ascend to the top of the Kongmaru La (5306 meters), which is the highest one among the three passes present in region. The views from the top of this pass are amazing. You will find snowy peaks in every direction and the amazing vistas of Karakoram can be relished at the northwestern horizon on a clear day. The route then dips down to the Martselang Valley leading Martselang Stream to the Sumdo Village. Overnight stay in the tents.

DAY 10: Sumdo – Hemis (4 hrs trek) – Leh

We will make an easy dip down along the Martselang on this day. At Martselang, the trail broadens into the Indus Valley. You will get the jeeps waiting for you at Martselang Village. Explore Hemis Monastery and then drive to Leh via Thiksey and Shey monasteries. Overnight stay in the hotel.

DAY 11: Leh – Delhi

Day 01: Arrive Delhi – Meet on arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Day 03: Leh – Enjoy full day sightseeing of monasteries of Indus valley (including Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Gompa and Shey Monastery)

Day 04: Leh – Hanupatta (5-6 hour drive, 2 hr trek) – Drive to Alchi in the morning (3-4 hr.). Visit Alchi monastery. Drive on to Lamayuru (1 hour). Visit Lamayuru monastery. Drive further up to Wanla (1 hour) and trek for 2 hr. to reach Hanupatta. Overnight in the camp.

Day 05: Hanupatta to Photoskar (6 hr. trek) – Begin trek after breakfast. It is a gradual ascend towards Sirsir La (4500 m). Then descend down to Photoskar village. Overnight in the camp

Day 06: Photoskar to Yulchung (6 hr. trek) – Today begin a gradual ascend to Singala la (5500 m). This is the highest point of your trek. You will have spectacular views from this point. Continue trekking to Yulchung. Overnight in the camp.

Day 07: Yulchung to Lingshed (5 hr. trek) – Today’s trek will be a winding train crossing two minor passes with plenty of ups and down. Arrive Lingshed village and camp overnight. Time permitting, visit the Ligshed Monastery.

Day 08: Lingshed – Nyetse (6-7 hr. trek) – Begin trek after breakfast. It will be a gradual ascent to Hanumala pass (5000 m). You get excellent views from this pass. Later descend to Nyetse. Overnight in the camp.

Day 09: Nyetse – Hanamur (6 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is a steep climb with many ups and down to Parfila pass. Continue trekking to Hanamur – the first village with only four houses! Camp overnight.

Day 10: Hanamur – Pishu (5 hr. trek) – After breakfast begin the trek. Today’s trek will follow Zanskar River until you arrive Pishu village – with about 30 houses. You will camp beside Zanskar River

Day 11: Pishu to Karsha (5 hr. trek) – Continue trekking beside Zanskar River until you reach Karsha monastery. Karsha is the oldest monastery in Zanskar. You will camp beside the monastery.

Day 12: Karsha to Padum (3 hr. trek) – Today morning you will do a three hours trek to Padum village. Padum is the headquarter of Zanskar region. Afternoon visit Padum market. Overnight in the camp.

Day 13: Padum – Raru (5 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is a walk along Tserap River until you reach to Raru Village. You will visit beautiful Barden gompa and Mune gompa en route. Overnight in the camp.

Day 14: Raru to Surle (5 hr. trek) – You will continue trekking along Tserap River until you reach Surle village. You will enjoy a dinner with local family. Overnight in the camp.

Day 15: Surle to Purne (4 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is a gentle walk of 4 hours along Tserap River until you reach Purne. Overnight in the camp.

Day 16: Purne – Phuktal – Purne (4 hr. trek) – Enjoy an excursion to Phuktal, about 2 hours walk each way, to see spectacular monastery. It is an amazing monastery which is built on a bridge between two cliffs. You can spend few hours here, have tea and snacks. Return back to Purne. Overnight in the camp.

Day 17: Purne – Testa (4 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is a 4 hours walk to Testa village. Overnight in the camp.

Day 18: Testa – Kargiak (6 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is through villages of Kuru, Tanzay and Raltak to reach Kargiak. This is the last village of Zanskar. Overnight in the camp.

Day 19: Kargiak – Lakhang (5 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is through a beautiful valley full of flowers. You will pass by a sherpherd camp to reach Lakhang. You will camp at the base of Shingula pass.

Day 20: Lakhang – Chumik Nagpo (5 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is a gradual ascent of about 2 hours to reach Shingula pass (5300 m). Then a gradual descent to reach Chumik Nagpo. Overnight in the camp.

Day 21: Chumik Nagpo – Palamo – Manali (6 hr. trek/ 5 hr. drive) – Today you leave Zanskar and enter Himachal Pradesh. About a 6 hours trek will take you to Palamo. You will be met and driven to Manali.

Day 22: Manali – Day at leisure.

Day 23: Manali – Delhi – Early morning, drive to Chandigarh railway station to board train to Delhi.

Day 24: Depart Delhi for onward destination.
