This tour starts at Delhi and includes Delhi Sightseeing, visit to Agra where you will see the famous Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri on the way to Jaipur. At Jaipur, visit the forts, palace, museum and the enchanting bazaars before moving to Jodhpur which was founded in 1459 A.D. by Rao Jodha, where we will explore Mehrangarh Fort and visit Jaswant Thada. DAY 02 : DELHI – After breakfast, enjoy the sightseeing of Delhi.

Drive past Red Fort (Closed on Mondays) the 17th century imposing fortress built in red sandstone is surrounded by a huge 33m high boundary wall. Inside are exquisite palaces and beautiful gardens.

Opposite the Red Fort lies Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) made of red sandstone and white marble, completed in 1656 at a cost of one million Rupees has perfect proportions. Jama Masjid is India’s largest mosque where more than 20.000 people can kneel in prayer. The interior of the prayer hall is divided into aisles by arches. The walls and floors are of marble inlay panels.

Also visit the Raj Ghat on the banks of the river Yamuna, Mahatma Gandhi’s Memorial, where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948. The memorial lies in the midst of landscaped gardens and made of a simple square platform of black marble inscribed with his last words “Hey Ram”. An eternal flame burns 24 hours.

You will drive Past Rashtrapati Bhawan once the Viceroy’s residence is now the official residence of the President of India.

Photo stop at India Gate Built of Bharatpur stone, commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world war. 13516 names of British and Indian soldiers killed in the Afghan War of 1919 are engraved on the arch and foundations.

Visit the Humayun’s Tomb, built by his wife Haji Begum in the 16th. Century. An early example of Mughal architecture considered the predecessor of the Taj Mahal.

DAY 0 3: DELHI / AGRA (Approx. 206 Kms – 5 hrs drive)

After leisurely breakfast drive to Agra. On the way visit Sikandra.

Sikandra: The mausoleum of the great Mughal King Akbar (1556-1605). Akbar began building it during his lifetime and his son, the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, completed it. It has a large arched entrance and green lawns, on which deer can be seen grazing, surround the tomb.

14th child, is located on the banks of the Yamuna river here. The construction of the Taj had commenced in 1631AD and had ended in 1653AD. Workers were gathered from all over the country and from central Asia. About 20,000 people were recruited to translate this dream into reality. The main architect was Isa Khan who was brought from Iran.

DAY 05 : AGRA / FATEHPUR SIKRI / JAIPUR (Approx. 232 Kms / 05 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Jaipur. On the way visit Fatehpur Sikri. It is a beautiful and deserted medieval city built by Akbar the Great in the 16th century to serve as the capital of his vast empire. The Mughals later abandoned this city for lack of water.

After sightseeing drive to Jaipur. Maharaja Jai Singh II built Jaipur in the 18th century. It is a planned city built with ancient Hindu rules as the colonial capital of a richly colorful state. The whole city was painted pink to welcome the visit of Prince Albert in 1853.

DAY 06 : JAIPUR – After breakfast, half-day excursion trip takes you to Amber Fort with Elephant or Jeep ride. The Amber Fort was built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, is one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture. It gives extensive views over a deep narrow valley and the wider plains beyond.

En route, make a photo stop at the palace of winds the Hawa Mahal. A 5 storied building with 25cm thick facade from the 18 century having 953 windows and niches so that ladies of royal family could see the procession and events in the city without being visible to the people.

In the afternoon, visit City Palace. The beautiful palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh during his reign. Among the various forts and palaces of Jaipur, City Palace stands apart, with its outstanding art and architecture. City Palace complex covers a huge area, which is divided into a series of gardens, courtyards and buildings. The premises consists several buildings like Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Mukut Mahal, Maharani’s Palace, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum.

Also visit Jantar Mantar (1728-34) by king astrologer Jai Singh II. The instruments are built of stone with marble facing on the important plains for measuring the harmony of the heavens.

DAY 07 : JAIPUR / JODHPUR (Approx. 332 Kms – 07 hrs) – After breakfast drive to Jodhpur. Set on the edge of the Thar desert, the imperial city of Jodhpur echoes with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert. Once the capital of the Marwar state, it was founded in 1459 A.D. by Rao Jodha chief of the Rathore clan of Rajputs who claimed to be descendants of Rama the epic hero of the Ramayana.

DAY 08 : JODHPUR – After breakfast enjoy the sightseeing of Jodhpur.

Visit Mehrangarh Fort, which was built by Rao Jodha in 1459. It has various pavillions beautifully decorated and at times filled like museums with the old royal artifacts. From the top of the fort one can get a bird’s eye view of the old city. You will notice the predominance of blue houses referred to as Brahmin houses – the colour being associated with the high caste.

Also visit Jaswant Thada. It is a white marble memorial built by Sardar Singh in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The monument, in its entirety, is built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. These stones are extremely thin and polished so that they emit a warm glow when the sun’s rays dance across their surface.

DAY 09 : JODHPUR / RANAKPUR ( Approx.169 Kms – 3 ½ hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Ranakpur. On arrival, visit the Ranakpur Jain Temples. Renowned for some marvelously carved Jain temples in amber stones, Ranakpur is one of the five holy places of the Jain community. These temples were created in the 15th century A.D. during the reign of Rana Kumbha and are enclosed within a wall. The central ‘Chaumukha’ or four-faced temple is dedicated to the venerated Tirthankara Rishabhji. Open on all four sides, it enshrines the four-faced image of Adinath. Sprawling over 48,000 sq.feet, the temple is an astounding creation with 29 halls and 1,444 pillars – all distinctly carved.

Images of 24 tirthankars are carved on the ‘Mandaps’ or porticoes in a corridor around the shrine with each mandap having a ‘Shikhar’ or spire adorned with little bells on the top. The gentle breeze wafting through the corridors move the bells creating celestial music all around the complex. Rising in three stories, the temple has four small shrines with 80 spires supported by 420 columns.

DAY 10 : RANAKPUR / UDAIPUR (Approx. 90 Kms – 02 hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Udaipur. Udaipur is known as the Venice of the East. It has to its credit some beautiful temples and gardens. It lies in the Girwa Valley amidst the Aravali hills of South Rajasthan. The City is considered a Romantic city with its lakes, gardens, temples and –an Oasis in the Thar Desert. Arrive Udaipur and transfer to the Hotel.

Later visit enjoy Boat ride on Lake Pichola. Lake Pichola derives its name from Pichola Village. Maharana Udai Singh enlarged the lake after he founded the city of Udaipur. This picturesque 4 km long and 3 km wide lake encloses the Jag Niwas Island and the Jag Mandir. The City Palace extends along its eastern banks. Overnight at the hotel

DAY 11 : UDAIPUR – After breakfast, enjoy the sightseeing of Udaipur, which includes the visits to the following:

City Palace:One of the largest royal complexes in Rajasthan, the City Palace stands majestically on a promontory on the picturesque Lake Pichola. The complex boasts 11 constituent Mahals (palaces), with balconies, towers and cupolas, offering a breathtaking view of the lake and its surroundings. The Durbar Hall, which was used as a venue for formal occasions like state banquets and meetings, has most luxurious interiors highlighted by some of the largest chandeliers in the world. The Palace also houses a museum displaying a number of interesting artifacts.

Folklore Museum:Bhartiya lok Kala mandal was founded by Padma Shri Devi Lal Samar in 1952.

Sahelion ki Bari:The Sahelion-ki-Bari Garden was built in early 18th century AD as a retreat for ladies of the royal household to spend their time in leisure. The enchantingly beautiful Garden is famous for its lotus pool, fountains (in the shape of birds), lush green lawns, flowerbeds, and marble pavilions, offering a breathtaking view to visitors.

15 Days North India and the Ganges Tour: This tour of North India and Ganges follows a popular travel circuit which starts at Delhi and takes you to Amritsar, where we visit the Golden Temple and enjoy a Rickshaw ride through the old market. From Amritsar we travel to Dharamsala and experience the unique culture of the Tibetan community around Mc LeodGanj. We will also visit the H.H Dalai Lama Temple and later visit Norbulinga Institute of Tibetan.

Our next stop will be Pathankot where we will visit Church St. John in the Wilderness at Forsyth Ganj which has memorials of various Viceroys from the Britain. From Pathankot we will take a flight to Varanasi and in the evening take a Rickshaw ride through the old parts of the City to Ghats to experience the Evening Puja Ceremony on Dasvamedha Ghat on the banks of River Ganges. Early morning we will take a Boat ride on the Ganges, then walk to the Vishwanath Temple one of the Famous Temple dedicated to the Lord Shiva.

We will travel to Sarnath and visit Chaukandi and Dhamek Stupa build by the Emperor Ashoka in 243 BC and the ruins of the ancient town. Our next stop will be Khajuraho which is  famous for its temple structures and “UNESCO –World Heritage Monuments”. Built by the Chandela Dynesty these temples are more than a 1000 years old. We will visit Orchaa Fort near Jhansi on our way to Gwalior where we will explore the Gwalior Fort and visit the Fort complex Man Mandir and the Sas-bahu Temple. From Gwalior we will journey to Agra and visit the Agra Fort and the famous Taj Mahal.

Day-6. Dharamshala – Pathankot-Delhi 100km Drive/3-4 Hrs+ Train DEP 1905 Hrs

Morning we pay a visit to Church St. John in the Wilderness at Forsyth Ganj, this mystical place is surrounded by pine trees and the church though small gives us a good feel of the British Era architecture. Inside the church are memorials of various Viceroys from the Britain.

Afternoon we drive to Pathankot Railway station to catch train to Delhi

Day-7. Arrive Delhi-Varanasi Flight DEP: 0930/ARR 1045; Arrive Delhi at 0545Hrs. 

We arrive very early this morning, we get time to freshen up and have breakfast. After Breakfast transfer to Airport to catch flight to Varanasi.

On arrival in Varanasi we meet our transport and we drive to our Hotel.After getting some time to relax we re-group in the evening and take Rickshaw ride through the old parts of the City to Ghats to experience the Evening Puja Ceremony on Dasvamedha Ghat on the banks of River Ganges.Come back to Hotel for Dinner Overnight in Hotel

Varanasi is bustling City situated on the Banks of the river Ganges. It’s famous for its Temples and Ghats. Varanasi is the Vatican of East and holds the same importance in the Hinduism.Its also called Kashi a mythological term and many Hindus believed that a visit to this place is a must once in their lifetime and have a dip in the Holy river of Ganges which will wash all their sins.

A lot of Hindu monasteries are located across the city and priest come here to study and gain knowledge by meditation and teaching; later join respective temples in their own Cities. The City is also famous for Silk Saris.

Day-8. In Varanasi.

Early morning we Take a Boat ride on the Ganges, then walk to the Vishwanath Temple one of the Famous Temple dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Later come back to Hotel for Breakfast.

Before Noon we Drive to Sarnath appx (30mins 0ne-wa)y; We start the tour with the Visit to the Archaeological museum renowned for keeping world famous artifacts and relics from the Golden era.

Later we visit the famous Chaukandi and Dhamek Stupa and the ruins of the ancient town later we visit the Modern Buddhist Temple erected by the Mahabodhi society adjacent to the ruins.

Evening we return to Hotel. Overnight in Hotel

Sarnath is a small town next door to Varansi and holds the religious importance to Buddhism. The famous Stupa was Build by the Emperor Ashoka in 243 BC

Day-9. Varanasi- Khajuraho DEP 1215 Hrs ARR 1315 Hrs

Morning we pay a visit to a Hindu Ashram and see how Monks live there. In the afternoon we get transferred to Airport to Board Flight to Khajuraho. Arrive Khajuraho Transfer to Hotel Overnight in Hotel

Day-10. In Khajuraho

Today we have full day to visit The Western and the Eastern group of Temples.

Khajuraho is famous for its temple structures and most them have been declared “UNESCO –World Heritage Monuments”. These temples depict the generous and artistic creativity towards the kings of Chandela dynasty having ruled in the central India around 1000 AD. Out of the total 85 temples only 22 have survived till now and are divided as Eastern , Western and Southern Group of temples.

Orcha is a small town on the Banks of the Betwa River, which used to be the occupied the Kings of Bundela Rajput Dynasty and was founded in some 1501 AD.

Day-12. Gwalior- Agra DRIVE 120 Kms/3-4 Hrs

Gwalior is a small city located in the Centre of India in the state of Madhya Pradesh and the foundation of the city can be traced to 8thCentury AD. It was also eminent place during the fight for our Independence and was a hotbed of planning during the First uprising by Indians against British in 1857 for the freedom fighters Tatya tope and the Queen of Jhansi Rani Laksmi Bai; the city also has memorials.

Morning we visit Gwalior Fort. We visit the Fort complex Man Mandir and the Sas-bahu Temple. One can have a nice view of the whole town from the Walls of the fort. On our way down we walk to the bus and visit the famous stone cut sculptures of Lord Mahaveer.

Day-13. In Agra: 

The modern Agra was founded by King Sikander Lodhi in the 16th Century and later became the seat of the Mughal Empire and thus the city came into prominence and it was Shahjehan who built the Memoir of Love for his beloved wife Mumtaz.

After Breakfast we drive to Delhi via Fatehpur Sikri – all done in Fine Red Stone. Now a lost city Fatehpur Sikri was once an inhabited city and was build by Mughal King Akbar during 1564 AD.

We will journey back to Ahmedabad enroute exploring Lothal – a perfect place to get an insight of the Indus Valley civilization.

DAY 10: BHUJ –GONDAL (240KMS)

Drive to Gondal en-route visiting Bhujodi to meet the weavers of the community Vankar, also discover the nearby towns of Harijan and Dhamadka. Bhujodi is a small town just 8 km southeast of Bhuj. It is a major textile center of Kutch, majority of its inhabitants are  involved in textile handicraft production. Here you can meet weavers, tie-dye artists and block printers. Dhamadka is a major center of the traditional block-printing technique of Gujarat.

The important historical places in Gondal are The Riverside Palace & The Huzoor Palace which is also the residence of the current royal family. It is known as the Orchard Palace because of its huge surroundings of fruit orchards, lawns and gardens.

DAY 11: GONDAL – PALITANA (180KMS) –BHAVNAGAR (52KMS)

Palitana is little more than a gateway to Shetrunjaya, strew with 863 temples. The temples were built over a period of 900 years on a hilltop dedicated entirely to God and belong to Jain community. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 12: BHAVNAGAR – LOTHAL – AHMEDABAD–DELHI (FLIGHT)

Drive to Ahmedabad en-route visiting Lothal.

Lothal – a perfect place to get an insight of the Indus Valley civilization. The most dominating site at Lothal is the massive dockyard spanning an area of 37 meters by 22 meters perhaps the greatest work of Maritime Architecture. Lothal was also famous for its arterial streets, microbes of gold, ivory and coppersmith’s workshops, potteries and underground sanitary drainage.

Day 02: Delhi 

After breakfast enjoy the sightseeing of Delhi.

Visit the Red Fort   the 17th century imposing fortress built in red sandstone is surrounded by a huge 33m high boundary wall. Inside are exquisite palaces and beautiful gardens.

Opposite the Red Fort lies Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque) made of red sandstone and white marble, completed in 1656 at a cost of one million Rupees has perfect proportions. Jama Masjid is India’s largest mosque where more than 20.000 people can kneel in prayer. The interior of the prayer hall is divided into aisles by arches. The walls and floors are of marble inlay panels.

Also visit the Raj Ghat on the banks of the river Yamuna, Mahatma Gandhi’s Memorial, where he was cremated following his assassination in January 1948. The memorial lies in the midst of landscaped gardens and made of a simple square platform of black marble inscribed with his last words “Hey Ram”. An eternal flame burns 24 hours.

In the afternoon visit New Delhi. You will drive past India Gate   Built of Bharatpur stone, commemorates the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died in the 1st world war. 13516 names of British and Indian soldiers killed in the Afghan War of 1919 are engraved on the arch and foundations. Photo stop at Rashtrapati Bhawan once the Viceroy’s residence is now the official residence of the President of India.

Visit the Humayun’s Tomb, built by his wife Haji Begum in the 16th. Century. An early example of Mughal architecture considered the predecessor of the Taj Mahal.

Later visit the Qutub Minar   the landmark of Delhi, a huge tower of victory started in 1199 and completed in 1368. The minar is 72.5m high with a diameter at the base 14.4m and 2.7m at the top. The tower has 379 steps to the top.

Day 04: Jaipur

After breakfast enjoys an excursion trip which takes you to Amber Fort on Jeep / Elephants.

This city Fort is situated 130m high with the Aravalli hills all around it in a valley 11 km north of Jaipur. It was the ancient capital of the Kachhawaha Rajputs till 1037.

Day 05: Jaipur / Ranthambore (Approx. 180 Kms / 04 Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Ranthambore.

Ranthambore is one of the finest tiger reserves in India nestled in the Aravallis it is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The park along with the contiguous regions of Kela Devi and Sawai Man Singh parks forms a good biosphere along the Chambal River, which separates it from Madhya Pradesh.

Day 06: Ranthambore         

Early morning enjoy game drive in the park

Return to the hotel for breakfast.  Ranthambore is a dry deciduous forest replete with several lakes, rivulets and a magnificent ancient fort overlooking the park. The wildlife that one can see here are a large variety of birds, including an impressive number of waterfowl and birds of prey.

Day 07: Ranthambore / Bharatpur (240 Kms – 5 ½ Hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Bharatpur.

Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary or Keoladeo Ghana National Park, which was established in 1956. This 29 sq km marshland is one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world with over 360 species of birds, out of which 117 are the local birds. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, it used to be a part of the private shooting reserve of the Maharaja of Bharatpur.

Among many bird species to be seen are egrets, storks, ducks, Chinese coots, kingfishers, spoonbills, sarus cranes and several birds of prey, including falcon, marsh harrier and eagle. Alone 80 species of ducks can be spotted here. There are also chital, Nilgai, deer, wild cats, hyenas and wild boar whilst near the entrance there are usually some very large rock pythons.

During November to February the northern hemisphere migratory birds visit the park from China, Europe and Siberia, including the rare Siberian Crane.

Day 08: Bharatpur / Chambal  (125 Kms – 2 ½ Hrs drive)

Later drive to Chambal, on the way visit Fatehpur Sikri, the beautiful and deserted medieval city built by Akbar the Great in the 16th century to serve as the capital of his vast empire. The complex consists of religious, residential and administrative buildings. The Mosque is considered a copy for the Mosque at Mecca and is extremely elegant, containing elements of Hindu and Persian design.  Housed here is the Shrine of Sheikh Salim Chisti one of the greatest of Sufi saints of the Muslim world.

Day 09: Chambal  

After breakfast, enjoy the River Safari. The calm and gentle waters of the Chambal River are best explored on boats and the River Safari provides spectacular opportunities to view the wildlife. The Chambal Safari boatmen are exceptionally skilled at cutting the boat engines, and maneuvering as close to the birds and animals as possible without disturbing them. Trained naturalists accompany visitors and provide expert information on the Chambal wildlife. The River Safari is a most relaxing, enjoyable and special experience.

Afternoon  enjoy the trip to Bateshwar Temples.

The ancient temple complex at Bateshwar on the river Yamuna, 10 km from the Chambal Safari Lodge, consists of more than a hundred temples dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. Referred to as Surajpur in ancient texts, Bateshwar derives its current name from its reigning deity Lord Bateshwar Mahadev (another name for Shiva).

Day 10:  Chambal / Agra   (70 Kms – 1 ½ Hrs drive)

After breakfast drive to Agra.

Agra stands on the right bank of the river Yamuna, was once the seat of the Mughal rulers, the zenith of art and an enshrined romance. A town famous for its beautiful medieval monuments. The passion of the Mughals for building endowed it with some of the loveliest buildings in the world.

Later visit Taj Mahal (Closed on Fridays) – A poignant poetry in marble, stands serene and the most extravagant monument ever built for love is a tribute to the timelessness of art and love. The inimitable poem in white marble, one of the seven modern wonders of the world, the finest expression of love of Emperor Shah Jahan for his queen Mumtaz who died giving birth to their 14th child, is located on the banks of the Yamuna river here. The construction of the Taj had commenced in 1631AD and had ended in 1653AD. Workers were gathered from all over the country and from central Asia. About 20,000 people were recruited to translate this dream into reality. The main architect was Isa Khan who was brought from Iran.

Later visit Agra Fort, -Built by the great Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD, the fort is a masterpiece of design and construction. Within the fort are a number of exquisite buildings, including the Moti Masjid, Diwane-I-Am, Diwane-I-Khas and Musamman Burj, where the Emperor Shah Jahan died in imprisonment, besides Jahangir’s Palace, Khaas Mahal and the Sheesh Mahal.

Day 11: Agra – Delhi (203 Kms – 5 Hrs drive)

Sikandra: The mausoleum of the great Mughal King Akbar (1556-1605). Akbar began building it during his lifetime and his son, the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, completed it. It has a large arched entrance and green lawns, on which deer can be seen grazing, surround the tomb.

Day 10 : Udaipur – Jodhpur (Approx. 275 Kms / 6 hrs)
Morning transfer to Jodhpur, en-route visiting the beautifully carved Jain temple at Ranakpur. After arrival, check into hotel. Later visit the Mehrangarh Fort which literally means “Majestic Fort”, located at the very centre of the city. There are in all, three gates , each built to commemorate a particular victory, as well as to reinforce the fort. It has a collection of musical instruments, palanquins, furniture & cannons on the forts’ ramparts are well preserved. DAY 04 DELHI TO CALICUT TO KASARGOD
Morning after breakfast transfer to the domestic airport, board flight to Calicut. Arrive Calicut, direct transfer to Kasargod (about 195kms/ 04hrs), check into the hotel.

Starting with Kasargod as the gateway to God’s Own Country will put you in memory with a different face of Kerala – classical, ancient, and gentle. Morning after breakfast visit the Bekal Fort, the largest and the best-preserved fort in Kerala. After sightseeing we will make a drive to Kannur (about 115kms/03hrs) , a city known for its handloom and beedi (local cigarettes) industries. Check into the hotel. Evening we make a short drive to Sree Muthappan Temple in Parassinikadavu (18kms). Temple stands on the banks of the Valapattanam River. This is the only temple in Kerala where Theyyam the ritual dance form of North Kerala is performed every morning and evening. The temple’s non-conformist nature is also evident in the unusual custom of offering dried fish and toddy to the deity. Back to the hotel. O/n Hotel.

DAY 06 KANNUR
Morning after breakfast we will make a short drive to the Payyambalam Beach, the long and clean beach of Kannur town is famous for its flat laterite cliffs that just into the sea.

Also visit the St. Angelo Fort, this sea front laterite fort was constructed in 1505 AD by the first Portuguese Viceroy, with the consent of the ruling Kolathiri Raja. Afternoon visit the Ezhimala about 55km from Kannur town, at a height of 885 feet is Ezhimala, an isolated but conspicuous cluster of hills. The foot of hills is a cave and an old burial chamber. The combination of high hills and sandy beach make Ezhimala a beautiful spot. Back to the hotel. O/n Hotel.

DAY 07 KANNUR TO VYTHIRI
Morning after breakfast drive to Vythiri (about 160kms/04hrs) through Wayanad district with its peculiar and unique geographical positions is blessed with mist clad mountains and sylvan valleys. It is situated at a height of 700 to 1200 metres above sea level. The hills which might have been thick forest once are now plantations of coffee, tea and cardamom. DAY 08 VYTHIRI
Morning we will do a trek to Ambakuthi Hills, there are the two Edakkal Caves, natural rock cut – out formation, formed by a large split in a huge rock roofed over by other large rocks, all fixed in position through natural processes. Back to the hotel, rest of the day to relax. O/n Hotel.

DAY 09 VYTHIRI TO CALICUT
Morning after breakfast drive to Calicut (about 75kms/02hrs), is famous in history as the capital of the Zamorin Rajas. It was one of the great ports on the west coast and is a port of call for cargo steamers even today. Check into the hotel. Afternoon we make a short drive to Kappad where Vasco-da-Gama set foot on the sands of Kappad beach, on 27th May 1498 AD. Enjoy the evening in the beach to watch the beautiful sunset. O/n Hotel.

DAY 10 CALICUT TO SHORNUR
Morning after breakfast drive to Shornur (about 125kms/03hrs), check into the heritage hotel located at the banks of ‘Bharathapuza’, a river of astonishing beauty, poetry and silence and close to the famed institute of arts – Kalamandalam. Evening we will make a short visit to Kerala Kalamandalam, responsible for the renaissance of Kathakali dance, was founded by the famous poet, the late Vallathol. Visit the training sessions from 1530 to 1730hrs. Evening spend the time on the banks of the river to watch the beautiful sunset. O/n Hotel.

DAY 11 SHORNUR TO COCHIN
Late morning we drive to Cochin, enroute visit the Guruvayoor. Visit the Punnathur Kotta, an ancient fort which houses 40 temple elephants. Drive to Cochin (about 100kms/02hrs). Check into the hotel. The rest of the day to relax or stroll around the antique street in Kochi. O/n Hotel.

COCHIN DAY 12 COCHIN
Formed for its natural harbour, one of the finest in the world, Cochin has earned the sobriquet “Queen of the Arabian Sea”. Here you can see the oldest churches in India. The ancient temples, churches and synagogues. From time immemorial, Arabs, Chinese, Dutch, British and Portuguese sea farers followed the sea route to Cochin and left their impressions on the town.

Morning we make a short drive to visit the Mattancherry ‘Dutch’ Palace was built by Portuguese in 1557 and presented to the Cochin Raja, Kerala Varma. Afterthat move to the Jewish Synagogue, built in 1568. The great scrolls of the Old Testament and a number of copper plates inscribed in the Hebrew script are preserved in this synagogue. Later on to St. Francis Church, this Protestant church was built originally by the Portuguese in 1510 AD and it is believed to be the first church built by the Europeans in India. Vasco-da-Gama was buried here. Evening visit the Fort Kochin, the entrance of the harbour is dotted by the Chinese Fishing Nets. Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary is one of the India’s major sanctuaries, with elephant, monkeys and wild boar in abundance, as well as some other elusive but occasionally spotted species such as tigers. DAY 16 THEKKADY TO KUMARAKOM
Morning drive to Kumarakom (about 140kms/03hrs), the drive gives you a breathtaking views laid out in its glory along the road which winds from Periyar to Kottayam through the tranquil countryside, plantations of rubber, tea, coffee, cardamom and pepper. KUMARAKOM DAY 17 KUMARAKOM
Morning after breakfast we make a drive to Aranmula, the heritage village in India, is also famous for its metal mirrors and the only ritual snake boat race of Kerala, which take place every year during Onam season. Visit the Vijnana Kala Vedi, a cultural centre has been introducing foreign visitors into Indian arts since 1977, when it was created by Ms. Louba Schid, a European artist living in Kerala since 1968, studying and performing Kathakali. Aranmula is world famous for its metal mirrors, “Aranmula Kannady”, unique for its alloy and its ancient method “lost wax” and polishing techniques. The proportion of the alloy is a secret, known only to the manufacturers, i.e. only to the members of a family who had been passing on this secret from generation to generations.
