DAY 04 DELHI TO CALICUT TO KASARGOD

Bekal Fort DAY 05 KASARGOD TO KANNUR
Morning after breakfast visit the Bekal Fort, the largest and the best-preserved fort in Kerala. After sightseeing we will make a drive to Kannur (about 115kms/03hrs) , a city known for its handloom and beedi (local cigarettes) industries. Check into the hotel. Evening we make a short drive to Sree Muthappan Temple in Parassinikadavu (18kms). Temple stands on the banks of the Valapattanam River. This is the only temple in Kerala where Theyyam the ritual dance form of North Kerala is performed every morning and evening. The temple’s non-conformist nature is also evident in the unusual custom of offering dried fish and toddy to the deity. Back to the hotel. O/n Hotel.

DAY 06 KANNUR
Morning after breakfast we will make a short drive to the Payyambalam Beach, the long and clean beach of Kannur town is famous for its flat laterite cliffs that just into the sea.

Also visit the St. Angelo Fort, this sea front laterite fort was constructed in 1505 AD by the first Portuguese Viceroy, with the consent of the ruling Kolathiri Raja. Afternoon visit the Ezhimala about 55km from Kannur town, at a height of 885 feet is Ezhimala, an isolated but conspicuous cluster of hills. The foot of hills is a cave and an old burial chamber. The combination of high hills and sandy beach make Ezhimala a beautiful spot. Back to the hotel. O/n Hotel.

DAY 07 KANNUR TO VYTHIRI
Morning after breakfast drive to Vythiri (about 160kms/04hrs) through Wayanad district with its peculiar and unique geographical positions is blessed with mist clad mountains and sylvan valleys. It is situated at a height of 700 to 1200 metres above sea level. The hills which might have been thick forest once are now plantations of coffee, tea and cardamom. DAY 08 VYTHIRI
Morning we will do a trek to Ambakuthi Hills, there are the two Edakkal Caves, natural rock cut – out formation, formed by a large split in a huge rock roofed over by other large rocks, all fixed in position through natural processes. Back to the hotel, rest of the day to relax. O/n Hotel.

DAY 09 VYTHIRI TO CALICUT
Morning after breakfast drive to Calicut (about 75kms/02hrs), is famous in history as the capital of the Zamorin Rajas. It was one of the great ports on the west coast and is a port of call for cargo steamers even today. Check into the hotel. Afternoon we make a short drive to Kappad where Vasco-da-Gama set foot on the sands of Kappad beach, on 27th May 1498 AD. Enjoy the evening in the beach to watch the beautiful sunset. O/n Hotel.

DAY 10 CALICUT TO SHORNUR
Morning after breakfast drive to Shornur (about 125kms/03hrs), check into the heritage hotel located at the banks of ‘Bharathapuza’, a river of astonishing beauty, poetry and silence and close to the famed institute of arts – Kalamandalam. Evening we will make a short visit to Kerala Kalamandalam, responsible for the renaissance of Kathakali dance, was founded by the famous poet, the late Vallathol. DAY 11 SHORNUR TO COCHIN

COCHIN DAY 12 COCHIN
Formed for its natural harbour, one of the finest in the world, Cochin has earned the sobriquet “Queen of the Arabian Sea”. Here you can see the oldest churches in India. The ancient temples, churches and synagogues. From time immemorial, Arabs, Chinese, Dutch, British and Portuguese sea farers followed the sea route to Cochin and left their impressions on the town.

Morning we make a short drive to visit the Mattancherry ‘Dutch’ Palace was built by Portuguese in 1557 and presented to the Cochin Raja, Kerala Varma. Afterthat move to the Jewish Synagogue, built in 1568. The great scrolls of the Old Testament and a number of copper plates inscribed in the Hebrew script are preserved in this synagogue. Later on to St. Francis Church, this Protestant church was built originally by the Portuguese in 1510 AD and it is believed to be the first church built by the Europeans in India. Vasco-da-Gama was buried here. Evening visit the Fort Kochin, the entrance of the harbour is dotted by the Chinese Fishing Nets. DAY 14 MUNNAR TO THEKKADY

DAY 15 THEKKADY
Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary is one of the India’s major sanctuaries, with elephant, monkeys and wild boar in abundance, as well as some other elusive but occasionally spotted species such as tigers. Morning after breakfast we make a drive to Aranmula, the heritage village in India, is also famous for its metal mirrors and the only ritual snake boat race of Kerala, which take place every year during Onam season. Visit the Vijnana Kala Vedi, a cultural centre has been introducing foreign visitors into Indian arts since 1977, when it was created by Ms. Louba Schid, a European artist living in Kerala since 1968, studying and performing Kathakali. Aranmula is world famous for its metal mirrors, “Aranmula Kannady”, unique for its alloy and its ancient method “lost wax” and polishing techniques. The proportion of the alloy is a secret, known only to the manufacturers, i.e. only to the members of a family who had been passing on this secret from generation to generations. Day 02 Mahabalipuram

Kanchipuram is famous for its exquisite silk sarees. Visit the handloom and shop if you please. Drive to Mahabalipuram, the only surviving shore temple. Day 03 Pondicherry
Pondicherry, once a French settlement and now home to the Aurobindo Ashram – It spiritual tenets represent a synthesis of yoga and modern science and Auroville or the City of Dawn, an international settlement where community living is the focus of life. The sphere shaped Matri Mandir a hall of meditation is the splendid centre of Auroville. Visit Pondicherry Museum which has an outstanding collection of artifacts. Day 04 Tanjore
Tanjore is rich in its architecture, exquisite handicrafts, paintings, bronzes and South Indian Musical instruments. Visit the magnificent Brahadeeswara temple, where the shade of the tower (gopuram or vimanam) will not fall on the ground. The second largest monolithic sculpture, Nandi (Bull) can be found in the portal of the shrine. The Royal palace complex houses in important library and museums, including a superb collection of Chola bronzes.

Day 05 Trichy
Trichy was the citadel of the Chola dynasty in the medieval period. In the 18th century it witnessed the Carnatic wars fought between the French and the English. Lord Robert Clive’s house is still there to see and so is the Danish Church. The Rock-Fort is the landmark of Trichy. A climb of 434 steps leads to the ancient temple of Ganapati on top and a further climb to a Shiva temple Visit Srirangam temple and RockFort temple.

Day 06 Madurai
Drive to Madurai, known for 1000-pillared Meenakshiamman temple. Visit Meenakshi temple, famous for its Court of Thousand Pillars, built in 1560 A.D and visit to the temple to witness the famous night ceremony when the Temple bronze of Lord Siva is carried to the bed chamber of Goddess Parvathy to the accompaniment of religious prayers and music. Also visit Thirumalai Nayak’s Palace and Gandhi Museum.

Day 07 Periyar
Periyar. You will be taken to one of the best game sanctuaries in India – Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Your journey to Thekkady is through breathtaking, winding, dense rubber, etc; do not forget your camera. A boat ride on the spending Lake Periyar is the best way to experience the sanctuary. Visit the Spice plantations like cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, coffee and tea estates. On your way back to hotel, you can shop at the local market and pick up some fragrant spices.

Day 08 Kumarakom
A cruise on the Vembanad Lake, gently rocked by the waves rippling to the rhythm of the swaying coconut palms on the distant banks could be truly exhilarating. Day 12 Ooty
Full day excursion to Ooty and Coonoor. Visit Botanical Gardens, the Lake, Dodabetta peak, which provides beautiful views of the surrounding hills and plains at Ooty. Located at a lower altitude, with a warmer climate, Coonoor is a popular hill resort in its own way. You can take a Optional toy train to Coonoor to enjoy the scenic beauties. The well laid-out Sim’s park here is a beautiful botanical garden, with many rare flowers, shrubs and trees. Lambs rock and Dolphin’s Nose are some of the viewpoints and picnic spots around Coonoor. Overnight at Ooty.

Day 13 Kabini
90 kms southwest of Mysore lies Nagarhole National park, which claims populations of tiger, leopard and elephant as well as over 250 species of birds. Visit the park by jeep, on elephant back and in a coracle. Stay two nights at the Kabini river Lodge or at water Woods a small six bedroom bungalow, beautifully appointed, and situated on the banks of the Kabini river.

As an alternative to Nagarhole National Park, anglers may wish to consider staying at the Cauvery fishing camp on the banks of the Cauvery River at Bheemeshwari, which is noted for its mahseer fishing (best season November to June). The mahseer is considered to be one of the finest game fish in the world. Accommodation is in spacious, well furnished “ethnic log huts.” The Cauvery fishing Camp is situated 100 kms from Bangalore and 85 kms from Mysore.

Day 14 Kabini
In the morning go on a Coracle Ride on Kabini river. The Coracle is a round native boat. In the afternoon go on a wildlife tour in the National park in jeeps / vans.

Day 15 Mysore
Drive to Mysore, the Sandalwood City. A city with rich heritage with magnificent palaces, beautifully laid out gardens, imposing buildings, avenues of flowering trees and many ancient temples. The City of Mysore still retains an extraordinary charm that never fails to fascinate. Sights include the Mysore Palace, one of the largest of its kind in India – illuminated during weekends, the Art Gallery, Brindavan Gardens, etc. Overnight stay at Mysore.

Day 16 Bangalore
Visit Srirangapatna – The island fortress of Tipu Sultan is 16 Km from Mysore city. Inside the fortress is Tipu’s mosque with its twin minarets, the celebrated Ranganatha Swamy temple, Tipu’s Summer Palace known as the Daria Daulat Bagh, the Wellesley Bridge and the dungeons where British officers were once imprisoned. On arrival check-in at hotel. Later visit Lal Bagh, the Botanical Gardens, Tipu’s summer Palace, Bull Temple, and shopping at Arts & Crafts Centre Emporium at M.G.Road. Overnight at Bangalore.

Day 17 Departure

Day 01 Chennai
On Arrival Traditional Welcome & Transfer To Hotel. Sightseeing of Chennai includes Fort St. George, Fort Museum, National Art Gallery, Kapaleeswarar temple and drive past Marina Beach.

Day 02 Mahabalipuram
Visit Ekambareswarar temple – One of the largest temples in Kancheepuram, covering 9 hectares. Varadarajaswamy temple – noted for its costly jewellery and diamonds and precious stones presented by the kings of various dynasties temple and Kailasanathar temple – reflects the freshness and simplicity of early Dravidian architecture. Day 03 Mahabalipuram

Day 05 Tanjore
Tanjore is rich in its architecture, exquisite handicrafts, paintings, bronzes and South Indian Musical instruments. Visit the magnificent Brahadeeswara temple, where the shade of the tower (gopuram or vimanam) will not fall on the ground. The second largest monolithic sculpture, Nandi (Bull) can be found in the portal of the shrine. Day 06 Trichy

Day 07 Madurai
Drive to Madurai, known for 1000-pillared meenakshiamman temple. Visit Meenakshi temple, famous for its Court of Thousand Pillars, built in 1560 A.D and visit to the temple to witness the famous night ceremony when the Temple bronze of Lord Siva is carried to the bed chamber of Goddess Parvathy to the accompaniment of religious prayers and music. Also visit Thirumalai Nayak’s Palace and Gandhi Museum.

Day 08 Periyar
Periyar. You will be taken to one of the best game sanctuaries in India – Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Your journey to Thekkady is through breathtaking, winding, dense rubber, etc; do not forget your camera. A boat ride on the spending Lake Periyar is the best way to experience the sanctuary. Visit the Spice plantations like cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, coffee and tea estates. On your way back to hotel, you can shop at the local market and pick up some fragrant spices.

Day 09 Kovalam  
Kovalam, a former fishing village enchanted by the strips of golden sands laced with rich greenery of coconut palms. After breakfast you are free to go swimming and more adventure for surfing. Afterwards you can attend the yoga classes. Rest of the day relax at the beach. Watch the sun setting and you are free for shopping for handicrafts in the twilight hours.

Day 10 Kovalam
Day Free to relax on the beach or proceed for a day excursion to Trivandrum (Optional).

Day 11 Kumarakom
Drive To Kumarakom. A cruise on the Vembanad Lake, gently rocked by the waves rippling to the rhythm of the swaying coconut palms on the distant banks could be truly exhilarating. Pm Free & Evening Sun Set Cruise.

Day 12 Kumarakom
Visit the bird Sanctuary. The island is surrounded by Vembanad Lake and the land has lots of streams and canals which provides an ideal tourist experience, apart from being a fishing township.

Day 13 Kochi
Drive to Allepey known for its backwaters. Have a short cruise on the backwaters and later proceed to Kochi, the commercial capital of Kerala. Later proceed for the Boat Cruise To See The 7 Islands Of Kochi & Beautiful Sun Set At Chinese Fishing Nets. Spend around the city shopping for spices.

Day 14 Kochi
After breakfast Visit the Dutch Palace,  The Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening witness the make-up session and performance of traditional Kathakali Dance Show.

Day 15 Bangalore / Mysore
Transfer to Airport in time to Connect flight for Bangalore. Day 16 Mysore

Day 17 Hassan
Today you will witness the hoysala architecture.  Visit Belur & Halebid temples.

Day 18 Bangalore
Drive to Bangalore enroute visit Sravanbelgola, noted for its 17 metre high image of Lord Gomateshvara, which is cut into the rock of Indragiri hill. Hewn out of a single rock and visible from a distance of 25 kms, the Lord Gomteshwara is bathed with milk and honey once every 12 years.
Later visit Bangalore, the Garden City. Vist Bull temple, ISKCON temple, Lalbagh Botanical Gardens and the magnificient building of Vidhana Soudha.

Day 19 Goa
You will be transferred to the Airport to board flight to Goa. On arrival you will be checked-in at the hotel / resort. Rest of the day free for your own activites like Swimming, Water Sport Activities, etc.

Day 20 Goa
Today Morning proceed for the city tour of Old Goa. Visit old Goa Churches, Bassilica of Boom Jesus, Sri Mangueas Temple, Dona Paula & Miramar Beach. Afternoon at leisure for swimming & sun bathing.

Day 21 Mumbai
